Privacy Policy

This policy explains local browser storage, optional consent-based analytics, external beta downloads, and contact data for the web utility and desktop beta.

Last updated: July 26, 2026

What the web version stores locally

The Quick Symbols website stores recent symbols and favourite symbols in your browser using localStorage. This keeps the web utility fast and personal to this device.

Local favourites and recent items are not an account sync feature. Clearing browser data may remove them.

Website accounts

The Quick Symbols website does not require an account to search, copy, save favourites, or use the copy tray.

The desktop beta may offer optional account features when enabled. Any sign-in provider and the data requested should be shown in that app before you choose to sign in.

Analytics

When Google Analytics 4 is configured, it does not load until you select Accept analytics. Selecting Reject analytics keeps GA4 unloaded. Your choice is saved in localStorage and can be changed with Cookie settings in the footer.

After consent, GA4 may receive standard traffic information such as the page URL, browser/device information, approximate location derived by Google, and interaction timing. Quick Symbols does not send copied symbols, search terms, clipboard content, favourites, recent symbols, or personal note text to analytics.

Cookies and localStorage

The symbol utility uses localStorage for recent symbols, favourites, and the analytics preference. GA4 may set analytics cookies only after you accept analytics.

Use Cookie settings in the footer to change the analytics choice. Browser settings can also clear cookies and localStorage; clearing the preference causes the consent question to appear again when analytics is configured.

Downloads and external services

The Windows and macOS beta download buttons link to files hosted in the public Quick Symbols GitHub releases repository. GitHub may process request information under its own privacy terms when you follow those links.

The website does not inspect files on your device or read clipboard content. Copying a symbol uses the browser clipboard interface only for the text you selected.

Data not sold

Quick Symbols does not sell user data. Please avoid placing sensitive personal information into optional account names, feedback, or support messages.
